Traditionally a Japanese bride wears at least 2 light coloured silk kimono on top of each other and tied with an obi. A long, heavy, embroidered and padded coat (called an uchikake) is worn on top and trails on the ground. In western countries the uchikake is often used as a wall hanging, while western brides sometimes adjust and adapt light coloured kimono to suit their own Big Day.

Yuzen Dyed Wedding KimonoStunning lined silk wedding kimono, Yuzen dyed with surface gold & silver paint and touches of gold embroidery. Overall motif based on the prosperity evidenced in a sheaf of rice. Excellent condition. 170cm long, 130 cm wide. $450
